Experiencing psychosis can indicate a more severe mental health problem. Psychosis can include experiencing hallucinations (seeing, feeling, hearing or tasting things that other people don’t) or persistent, unusual thoughts or beliefs that other people do not believe or understand. These thoughts or beliefs can result in feelings of paranoia, that external forces are controlling a person’s mind or actions, or that others want to cause harm. It can also be the belief that you have special powers.

Psychosis can result in difficulty functioning normally and may require professional medical intervention. If you or someone you know may be struggling with psychosis, seek help. Recovery is possible with medical treatment.
