Workforce Working Group Meeting

The committee identified the following focus areas for the committee which they will work on through out the
year: Industry Career Pathways and Outreach, Identify and Market LPN Apprenticeships, Market Job Fair
Summit, Coordinate Career Youth Events for Students and Gather a Resource List of shared equipment in the
region.
• Hosted a hospital tour and career fair called “Get Into the Guts of Healthcare” for 50 Thompson Schools
8
th graders at UCHealth-Medical Center of the Rockies. Participants included: Banner, Centura, Columbine,
Front Range Community College, UCHealth and Summitstone. Students had hands-on opportunities to
take blood pressure, give CPR, experience the limitations of the aged, look at blood samples in a
microscope, and dental assistant procedures. Students also toured the MCR helicopter, lab, and sterile
processing department. The program emphasized the wide variety of health care careers, including
middle skill jobs. Planning is underway for similar events at NCMC for Greeley students, at Banner Fort
Collins for Poudre students, and at the UCHealth education labs in Windsor for Windsor students.
• Produced a Behavioral Health career pathway chart. Developed an accurate and up-to-date career
pathway diagram with educational levels and realistic salaries for NoCo. This will be widely shared with
high schools and colleges to inform students about behavioral health careers, many of which do not
require extensive education. The committee is meeting with UNC and CSU advisors and faculty to share
the information.
• Discussed workforce development with the Northern Colorado Legislative Alliance, and planned for
coordination of efforts in the future.
• The Partnership has provided support for two projects seeking money to develop collaborative
apprenticeships. The Partnership will assist employers who are interested in these options if the project is
funded. Supporting education of Medical Assistants at Aims College of Front Range Community Collee via
scholarships
