Dr. Glenn Harrison to lead discussion on the brain-gut connection

11/13/2019
12:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Dr. Glenn Harrison from the Center of Functional Medicine will return to The Avenues Crofton Park to discuss the brain-gut connection on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at noon. The connection between the brain and the digestive system is a relatively new discovery that reflects how different systems in the body are interconnected and cannot be studied in isolation. Some of the newest findings have shown how emotional responses like stress, anxiety and fear can make the digestive system more sensitive to bloating or other types of pain. Dr. Harrison, a certified Doctor of Chiropractic with training in functional and nutritional medicine, will discuss how certain feelings and foods can trigger different responses in the gut and how certain mind-body practices, like meditation or yoga, paired with certain diets, like low-carb and plant-based diets, can help individuals manage symptoms. At the Center of Functional Medicine in Westminster, Dr. Harrison takes a comprehensive approach to diagnostics and treatment using the six fundamental pillars of health. His methodology is designed to find the root cause of patients’ conditions. This event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is requested at (720) 328-9548. The Avenues Crofton Park is located at 12431 King Court. Learn more at www.livetheavenues.com.
