Caregiver Education Series - Medical Issues in Dementia Care: How to Manage Your Loved One's Care
We are offering a special series of classes for people who care for loved ones with dementia. Caregivers are welcome to bring their loved one—day care services will be provided free of charge. All classes will take place at Alumia Institute. Snacks will be provided. Presenter: Chip Watson, Executive Director of Alumia Institute.
Due to the effects that dementia has on the body, an individual’s risk for other health ailments is increased, especially as the disease advances. In the early stages, dementia affects not just memory but also language. Consequently, seniors with dementia may not report symptoms of an injury or another illness such as a cold. We will discuss some common medical issues those with dementia face as well as signs to look out for when your loved one may not be able to communicate with you.
