Changing the Narrative
01:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Imagine...what if each community valued its elders as vital resources rather than marginal participants in community life?
Some older adults accept that the isolation they face is just a normal part of being an elder in America. However, we believe that aging should be considered by each community as both a personal and a shared resource and opportunity.
In this community conversation, we will discuss ways to "reframe" or change our understanding and perception of the aging process. To change attitudes toward aging, we need to change the way we perceive aging. We should know how ageism manifests and be able to recognize ageist situation.
We will come together to share our knowledge, perspectives, biases and attitudes to reduce ageism. Learn how to support older adults to remain vital in activities such as civil dialogue, employment, recreational, housing, business and others.
Presenters: This event is facilitated and hosted by The Center for Conscious Aging and co-sponsored by Changing the Narrative, a partnership of NextFifty Initiative and Rose Community Foundation.
