Shane Grant says, “The wonderful thing about this show? It’s funny! Life has thrown a lot at us lately, and we could all use some good laughs. Uncomplicated laughs. Laughs without nuanced social commentary. Just some good ‘ole plain laughs. Beach Day: Summer Reading Kick-Off Party

The Basalt Regional Library will kick off its Summer Reading program with a Beach Party on the Meadow, Saturday, June 5 from noon till 4pm. To celebrate this year’s Summer Reading theme, Oceans of Possibilities, the community is invited to a mountain-style Beach-at-the-Library, complete with a water slide, obstacle course, sand and water exploration table, water balloons, squirters and more! We will have a scavenger hunt inside the Library, and a food truck for refreshments. We are delighted to start the festivities with a Tunes & Tales event on the Library Patio at the main entrance. Children and their families are invited to listen to the enchanting story, “Because” by Mo Willems, blended with music performed by local musicians of the Roaring Fork Valley. “Because” composes a powerful symphony of chance, discovery, persistence, and magic in this moving tale of a young girl's journey to center stage. Every family in attendance will receive a copy of this magical book. We will be joined by our partners WE-cycle, The Art Base, Basalt Regional Heritage Society and the Basalt and Rural Fire Protection District. Our Summer Reading program has something for everyone no matter your age or reading level. Come play at the Beach and kick off your Summer Reading!

Denver through the Decades: The 1910s

A note of sobriety settled over Denver in the 1910s, not just in alcohol but in almost every aspect of society with the Progressive Era. Denver did not stop the demanding work on growth, but perhaps did so a little more retrospectively. At least for a little while, that is. Exchanging one devil for another didn’t quite do it, so Denver’s step into propriety would be brief. We ended the decade with such promise, the 1910s having given us some lessons that would last. With so much going up, surely nothing could take us down! This presentation is free! Register online at treasureboxtours.com/upcoming-presentations.

Lagoon Summer Concert Series

Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts are a 4-piece touring band that shares male and female leads in a mix of old school country and rock n’ roll. Call it western outlaw, modern outlaw country, or just plain outlaw, Ryan Chrys & The Rough Cuts bring forth new energy to music fans who love the heroes and outlaws of old. Influenced by the songs and personalities of legends like Waylon and Willie, they drive their sound with blazing guitars and a rock n’ roll attitude.  The band pays respect to classic styles, but anyone can tell from their overdriven sound that they’re far from traditionalists. Recommended for lovers of both classic country and 70s rock n’ roll. The band also earned 2021 Female Vocalist of the year and 2019 Band of the year from the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame.
