Free Beginner Zoom Tai chi Classes

Introduction to T'ai Chi (& Qi Gong): Getting Started Right   Free Zoom Classes With several more months of restricted activities due to the pandemic, Joe Brady and Jacqui Shumway of The Tai Chi Project have decided to offer free Tai Chi Classes for Beginners via Zoom on Fridays at 10:00am Mountain Standard Time. Description: Experience for yourself the accumulated wisdom of centuries with the timeless exercise of T’ai Chi - many of the best of Qi Gong exercises artfully strung together. Improve your health and balance, feel more energy, and so you can sleep better. Learn to use your T’ai Chi to alleviate chronic stress, and everyday aches and pains. Step out of the ordinary and take the first steps on the road to a healthy longevity.  The flowing meditative exercise of T’ai Chi can be a powerful complement to medical intervention, and in many instances, may allow a physician to significantly reduce a patient's drug dosage or eliminate the need for medication altogether. Get the benefits of exercise you need without the wear and tear of other forms of exercise.  “T’ai Chi is often described as "meditation in motion," but it might well be called "medication in motion." There is growing evidence that this mind-body practice, which originated in China as a martial art, has value in treating or preventing many health problems.” Harvard Medical School

Better Serving Patients & Clients Who Aren't Your Age

Better Serving Patients & Clients Who Aren't Your Age Presented by Jennifer L. FitzPatrick MSW, LCSW-C, CSP. Most healthcare providers understand the need to be culturally competent when it comes to race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomics. Cultural competence in age diversity is not always as well understood or practiced. Frequently healthcare providers don’t stop to consider what communication and treatment strategies will be the most effective based on an adult patient or client’s age. This interactive program will cover best practices in working with the GI Generation, Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials and how to effectively implement them. Jenerations Health Education, #1494, is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved as ACE providers. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Jenerations Health Education maintains responsibility for this course. ACE provider approval period: 01/26/2024-01/26/27. Social Workers completing this course receive 1 continuing education credit. For full CE program/credit information and to register, please visit: https://jenerations.ce21.com/item/better-serving-patients-clients-arent-age-72321

The Ethics of Death, Dying and Grief at Home

The Ethics of Death, Dying and Grief at Home Presented by Stephanie Goldstein BSW, LBSW. Countless ethical dilemmas can arise when dealing with the death of an older adult at home. Frequently older adults who want to die at home are pushed into extraordinary measures that lead them to die in hospitals. What are the best practices when families are pursuing curative care when palliative care is called for? What happens when the older patient does not have advance directives? What are the implications when a terminally ill patient has an advanced dementia diagnosis? This interactive and thought-provoking program will examine the gray areas of ethics as they relate to death, dying, and grief in private home settings. ACE provider approval period: 01/26/2021-01/26/24. Social Workers completing this course receive 1 Ethics continuing education credit.

Attention all HCBS Home Care Providers Virtual Weekly Meeting

13 agencies on Western Slope have joined together to request the state reconsideration of the recent reduction in home care reimbursement rate. This reduction, coupled with increased regulations, increased minimum wage, makes it unaffordable to provide home care services to the HCBS recipients.  We believe there is power in numbers and therefore if this issue has impacted your agency, please join our weekly meetings each Tuesday at 9:00 AM. Below is the link to join so we can fight together. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions I’m happy to provide further details.  Microsoft Teams meeting - Join on your computer or mobile app Click here to join the meeting Learn More | Meeting options
