Funerals Customs and Rituals: Ways to say goodbye

During these unprecedented times, and always, Dignity Memorial® funeral service providers are committed to educating caregivers about the funeral profession so that they can more effectively support families of all cultures and religions through the process of funeral preparations and planning. We will be offering Funeral Customs & Rituals: Ways to Say Goodbye. Join us in person or Zoom Meeting. This FREE 2-hour presentation will offer two contact hours of continuing education for nurses, social workers and nursing home administrators. The course provides a brief overview of the funeral-related customs and rituals of the Roman Catholic, Protestant, Greek Orthodox, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist and Hindu faiths. The course was developed with guidance from leaders at national faith organizations and funeral directors whose client base is multi-cultural, along with feedback from nurses, social workers and clergy. After completing this course, participants will be able to: Identify funeral customs and rituals specific to Christian, Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist and Hindu faiths, as well as Asian culture.• Understand how these customs and rituals impact patients and their loved ones.• Communicate more confidently with patients of different faiths and cultures about end-of-life issues.• Provide more appropriate and informed advice to patients of different faiths and cultures.• Develop stronger patient relations based on greater knowledge and understanding. I am certain that this course will prove beneficial to you and your colleagues. If you have any questions or would like additional information about the course or our firm, please do not hesitate to contact me at julie.kinder@dignitymemorial.com   Join Zoom MeetingMeeting ID: 884 8316 9450Passcode: 060174

Ireland/Northern Ireland

In January 2020, the United Kingdom (including Northern Ireland) completed the first stages of its exit from the European Union. Given that the Republic of Ireland remains a member of the EU, the exit deal has significant implications for the lasting peace on the island of Ireland. This, combined with Sinn Fein’s recent surprise electoral victory in Northern Ireland, has raised uncertainties about the political future of Ireland. Join Active Minds as we discuss the history of Ireland and explore its cloudy future. This event is sponsored by HealthONE and Tattered Cover Bookstore. To Join Program: Click here to register.
