Online Documentary Screening

A documentary about self discovery, mental health, and one man's journey towards understanding and embracing PTSD. It's also a documentary about the connection between 'PTSD' and the suicide crisis. Frank Romeo, a Vietnam veteran, was one of the first Veterans to be officially diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). For years prior, his doctors called it 'war fatigue', 'shell shock' or 'depressive neurosis.' Frank's story mirrors the evolution of PTSD in our nation's history as he, like many others, struggled to understand the changes that his mind and body were going through. As the study of PTSD progressed, so did Frank's understanding of his illness, available treatment and how to live with it. Walk with Frank has been selected for various film festivals including Compassion Film Festival 2021, The Queens World Film Festival and Orlando International Film Festival 2021. Vintage Theatre presents “Young Frankenstein”

Vintage Theatre Productions   Young Frankenstein Music & Lyrics by Mel Brooks, Book by Mel Brooks & Thomas Meehan   Directed by Linda Suttle Music direction by Brandon Bill Choreography by Adrianne Hampton   September 17 – October 31, 2021 Nickelsen Auditorium Vintage Theatre Productions presents the legendary Mel Brooks stage adaptation of “Young Frankenstein” September 17 through October 31. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St. in Aurora. Tickets ranging from $20 - $38 are on sale by calling 303-856-7830 or online at www.vintagetheatre.org.  It’s Alive! From the creators of Broadway‘s record-breaking musical comedy sensation, The Producers, comes "Young Frankenstein" a monster of a hit musical based on Mel Brooks’ classic comedy film masterpiece. This wickedly inspired re-imagining of the legend of Frankenstein is the story of the bright young doctor Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen) who travels to Transylvania to complete the masterwork of his grandfather by bringing a corpse to life. The "Young Frankenstein” cast includes Cooper Kaminsky (Dr. Frankenstein), Bryan Plummer (Igor), Miranda Byers (Elizabeth), Scotty Shaffer (Kemp/Hermit), Christine Carter Kahane (Frau Blucher), Colby Resigner (Inga) and Jeffrey Betsch (the monster). The ensemble members are Stephanie Garcia, Killee Faria, Michael Jones, Jenny Weiss Mather, Sophia Montoya-Suson, Caleb Sporrer, Logan Traver, Sonsharae Tull, Kong Vang and Ronan Viard. “Young Frankenstein” is based on the 1974 comedy film of the same name written by Brooks and Gene Wilder and directed by Brooks.  It is a parody of the horror film genre, especially the 1931 Universal Pictures adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and its 1939 sequel, Son of Frankenstein. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe presented by CFCArts Youth Theatre Troupe and Companies

They opened a door and entered a world—Narnia—the land beyond the wardrobe, the secret country known only to Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. Lucy is the first to stumble through the back of the enormous wardrobe in the professor’s mysterious old country house, discovering the magic world beyond. At first, no one believes her. But soon Edmund, Peter and Susan, too, discover the magic and meet Aslan, the Great Lion, for themselves. And in the blink of an eye, they are changed forever. This superbly adapted dramatization delightfully sweeps the audience into the marvelous heart of their imaginations and into the enchanted world of Narnia. This exquisite production will warm and engage the hearts of children and adults whether they’re hearing the story for the first or the fiftieth time.

Vintage Theatre presents “Young Frankenstein” The hilarious musical based on the Mel Brooks classic film masterpiece.  Sept 17 – Oct 31, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.  $20 - $38 - 303-856-7830 or online at www.vintagetheatre.org.  Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St., Aurora 80010.  Running time 2 hours 40 minutes with intermission.  Recommended for all ages.

Destination Freedom Black Radio Days Podcast - “The Cleaning Ladies” and “Bound by Blood”

These audio dramas will feature Ghandia Johnson, Michaela “Mikki” Murray and Latifah Johnson. Stay tuned after the audio dramas for a conversation with Omar Montgomery, the President of the NAACP Aurora Branch and lecturer in Political Science at CU Denver. Clinnesha D. Sibley committed to training exclusively as a playwright while attending Tougaloo College in Jackson, Mississippi. It was at this historically black college that she learned the connection between social activism and artistic practice. Ms. Sibley is a playwright-scholar who advances the social consciousness of all people through her storytelling, teaching, directing and arts endeavoring. The original series by Richard Durham walked a daring line between reform and revolution.  From 1948 to 1950, Durham used the weekly Destination Freedom to fight the stereotypes of African Americans in the media. His inventive scripts highlighted the accomplishments of black leaders throughout history, including Harriet Tubman, Jackie Robinson, and Ida B. Wells. Durham’s recurring theme of social and economic freedom was a revolutionary idea rarely heard on the radio at the time. The program was shut down by its network in 1950, as McCarthyism and anti-communism tightened its grip on American broadcasting. Destination Freedom Black Radio Days is produced by No Credits Productions LLC and donnie l. betts. The series can be heard wherever you get your podcast #Broadway Podcast Network #itunes, #radiopublic, #spotify #amazon, #stitcher or www.nocredits.com No Credits Productions Destination Freedom Black Radio Days “The Cleaning Ladies” and “Bound by Blood” September 21 at 7 p.m. Broadcast live on www.kgnu.org.
