Vintage Theatre presents “Young Frankenstein”

Vintage Theatre Productions   Young Frankenstein Music & Lyrics by Mel Brooks, Book by Mel Brooks & Thomas Meehan   Directed by Linda Suttle Music direction by Brandon Bill Choreography by Adrianne Hampton   September 17 – October 31, 2021 Nickelsen Auditorium Vintage Theatre Productions presents the legendary Mel Brooks stage adaptation of “Young Frankenstein” September 17 through October 31. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. at Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St. in Aurora. Tickets ranging from $20 - $38 are on sale by calling 303-856-7830 or online at www.vintagetheatre.org.  It’s Alive! From the creators of Broadway‘s record-breaking musical comedy sensation, The Producers, comes "Young Frankenstein" a monster of a hit musical based on Mel Brooks’ classic comedy film masterpiece. This wickedly inspired re-imagining of the legend of Frankenstein is the story of the bright young doctor Frankenstein (that’s Fronkensteen) who travels to Transylvania to complete the masterwork of his grandfather by bringing a corpse to life. The "Young Frankenstein” cast includes Cooper Kaminsky (Dr. Frankenstein), Bryan Plummer (Igor), Miranda Byers (Elizabeth), Scotty Shaffer (Kemp/Hermit), Christine Carter Kahane (Frau Blucher), Colby Resigner (Inga) and Jeffrey Betsch (the monster). The ensemble members are Stephanie Garcia, Killee Faria, Michael Jones, Jenny Weiss Mather, Sophia Montoya-Suson, Caleb Sporrer, Logan Traver, Sonsharae Tull, Kong Vang and Ronan Viard. “Young Frankenstein” is based on the 1974 comedy film of the same name written by Brooks and Gene Wilder and directed by Brooks.  It is a parody of the horror film genre, especially the 1931 Universal Pictures adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein and its 1939 sequel, Son of Frankenstein. Vintage Theatre presents “Young Frankenstein” The hilarious musical based on the Mel Brooks classic film masterpiece.  Sept 17 – Oct 31, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.  $20 - $38 - 303-856-7830 or online at www.vintagetheatre.org.  Vintage Theatre, 1468 Dayton St., Aurora 80010.  Running time 2 hours 40 minutes with intermission.  Recommended for all ages.

Virtual Active Minds - Voting Rights

Although we think of the United States as a democratic republic beginning with adoption of our Constitution in 1787, relatively few people could vote at that time. Much of our history has featured debates about who should have a say in government policy through the exercise of the right to vote. In recent years, the debate has focused on election integrity and the ease of access to voting. Join Active Minds as we explore this history and set the stage for the debates over voting rights that rage in 2021 and beyond. This event is sponsored by HealthONE and Tattered Cover Bookstore.Host: Jefferson County Public LibraryCost: FreeTo Join Program: Click here to register. Once registered, you will receive a Zoom link via e-mail 30 minutes before the program. Active Minds Presents - India in Crisis

The COVID crisis began setting tragic mortality records in India this past spring and the situation is likely to get worse before it gets better. Join Active Minds as we explore the current crisis in India as well as the political and historical backdrop against which it is set. The country has been led since 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a controversial but widely popular leader from the BJP, a Hindu Nationalist party. His policies have alienated the Muslim minority within India, particularly in the disputed Muslim-majority region of Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, tensions with China have sparked border skirmishes that reflect a challenging regional dynamic between the two largest countries in the world.
